K2 Athena Women's In-Line Skates Review

I really like this pair of roller blades for the comfort of the boot, the color, and of course, the function. My only complaint it that the brake is not the best I've ever had. It takes a lot of force to slow down, let alone stop completely, and for a person skating in an area that has fairly steep hills, it is not a good deal for me if I gain too much speed and fly through an intersection.
This skate is a good beginner skate, and is great if you're going to be skating in a park or something with a level sidewalk, but for people people who plan to use it in an area with hills, it isn't the best choice.

I wanted to bring inline skating back into my training regimen as a low impact cardio option because I've had some running injuries. Plus, I needed a better way to exercise my energetic German Shepherd. But I hadn't skated since college, and was nervous because I remember the old hard plastic skates I had 20 years ago being painfully uncomfortable.
I read dozens of skate reviews and - because I'm a novice on a budget and the reviews all sounded great - decided to check these out (I have wide feet, so tried on in a store before buying).
Considering the awful skates I remember having, I was blown away with how comfortable and well designed these are - especially given the entry level price point. The soft boot feels like a firm sneaker (I'd say they run average width and maybe a little small - I wear a 6.5 or 7, and had to get a 7.5). The ankle support system is great and they've got clever loops to assist with getting them on (it's supposed to be a snug fit through the ankle support section). I feel amazingly stable on them even though I'm not a skilled skater, and I think the ride is smooth and comfortable. The heel brake takes some getting used to, but that's true of any skate. (I always want to put my toe down, like with roller skates.)
I love them so much I even had them out on a rainy 35 degree day when I had to dodge melting snowdrifts (with helmet and wrist guards - don't leave home without them!). I haven't had them terribly long yet, but already I feel like I got a great deal on a well made piece of equipment that will become an important part of my triathlon training regimen. And I can't wait until my skills improve to the point I can take the dog with me!
Note: retail store price point is about $150, with sales around $120. I'd suggest trying them on at the store to ensure proper fit, then coming back to get the better deal from Amazon.

I bought these skates because my daughter had them on her birthday list. When they arrived I was initially impressed with the apparent durability and toughness built into the skates. Secondly, I liked the soft boot design because it reflected a lot of thought concerning comfort while using them. Since my daughter has used the skates, she has been thoroughly satisfied. Not only are the skates very functional, but they are fashionable as well. The transaction was flawless and fast. I would definitely purchase from this company again!

Considered the company's "house blend" by the good folks at K2, the Athena 2.1 women's fitness skate is built around K2's proprietary Softboot--a proven combination of comfort and control. The Softboot offers such features as standard ankle lacing, a stability cuff, and an Exo composite frame, which combine to offer serious support for new and experienced skaters alike. Each skate also includes a power strap that wraps around the ankle along with an adjustable buckle, adding to the snugness of the fit. And thanks to the 78 mm wheels and ABEC 5 bearings, skaters are assured of a smooth, controlled ride every time they hit the pavement. The skates, which come in a variety of sizes (4.0 to 11.0), are backed by a one-year warranty.
About K2 In February of 1961 the first pair of fiberglass skis was produced by brothers Bill and Don Kirschner in their Vashon Island, Washington shop. The Kirscners, avid skiers, built fiberglass animal cages for medical use and were convinced that their process could build a ski that was lighter, stronger, and more lively than the wood and metal skis of the day. They really just wanted to build some cool skis for themselves and their friends. And the rest, as they say, is history. Much has changed since those early days on sleepy Vashon Island, but one thing has not: K2 is still a bunch of adrenaline junkies who just want to make some cool stuff for themselves and their friends.
Today, K2 Inc. is a premier, branded consumer products company with a portfolio of leading brands including Shakespeare and Stearns for marine and outdoor products, Rawlings and Worth for team sports, K2 and Brass Eagle for action sports, and Marmot and Ex Officio for apparel and footwear. K2's diverse products includes fishing, watersports activities, baseball, softball, alpine skiing, snowboarding, and inline skating.

I really loved these skates, but when I had to flip the wheels due to wearout, I couldn't put the back wheel back on. I never had this problem before with K2 skates. However, Amazon's customer service is outstanding and they allowed me to return the skates (even though the return date had expired a week ago) and sent me a new replacement. I do not plan on flipping the back wheel though for fear of the same problem.[[ASIN:B001GAPQIY K2 Maia Womens Inline Skates]

Rollerblade Women's Speedmachine SX 90 Skate Review

I bought these skates so that I could have another form of exercise besides my road bike. I had not skated with rollerblades since I was about 14, and I am 24 now. These skates are not as fast as I would like them to be, but that can be changed if you order better barrings for the wheels (which I have not done). They are also not good if you have weak ankles. I cannot wear these for long periods of time because they are not that comfortable. But if you are looking for just casually skating and not for exercise these would be great. I would also not recommend these skates for beginners since there is only one break and it doesn't stop very well. I will continue to wear these since I paid so much for them and I don't feel like spending anymore money on skates. However I did enjoy skating again, it was fun and it brought back some good childhood memories.

I felt that the skate made my ankles roll outwards. Perhaps these skates were just not appropriate for a beginner skater.

I bought some cheap skates a while ago because I wanted to do fitness skating. Those skates were nowhere near what I needed and they were cheap. I looked online and researched K2 skates because I heard they were the best. I was a little skeptical of the K2 Andra Boa skates because they just came out this year, but they had a good deal so I got them. The skates came in within days so that was fast shipping. The skates are so comfortable and they fit snug but not too snug and with great ankle support. I love the Boa system, I don't have to lace my skates and its so easy to adjust if I need to fix it when I skate. I've only had the skates for a day and already went riding and they were fantastic and fast and perfect for fitness or recreation. I can't say how the life is with them because I haven't had them long but I'll re post if something new comes up. Also, I read a lot of reviews on the K2 skates and they say to get a 1/2 size to a full size bigger than your normal shoe. I am normally a size 6.5 in womens and I got a size 7. The 7 fits perfect with regular socks, however I could've gone to 7.5 and use a thicker sock.

I bought these for my fiance's 30th birthday and we both were surprised at the level of quality and detail that went into this skate. In line skating can be a little "dated" but these skates are VERY modern and chic. I only wish they made a pink pair for women. :-)
Oh and he says that the ride is amazing (hes a pretty serious skater, so it must be true)

K2 Radical 90 Women's In-Line Skates Review

I am writing this review on behalf of my wife, who was the recipient of these skates. She was blading before I met her, and we've been together 20 years. Needless to say she is quite good, and has been through her fair share of skates over the years. Typically, I buy her a new pair every year. No more. These skates are the be-all, end-all. The brake was detachable, which made her happy beyond belief, and the skates even came with a more narrow replacement rear axle for proper wheel fit after the removal.
The wife is more of a figure-skating type; she puts her headphones on and forgets herself as she dances and grooves to the music. These skates give unparalleled fit and control, and the lowered cuff offers extended flexibility through the ankle, which increases control and speed. The fit and finish was superb, and the pictures you see on the 'net do nothing for how awesome these skates are in person. They even look like professional skates!
The best. Would wholeheartedly recommend! K2 rocks!
