72" Slide Board Fitness and Hockey Trainer Review

72 Slide Board Fitness and Hockey Trainer

I cannot slide as smoothly as I had hoped. The booties tended to stick to the board after a while. While I cannot work hard enough for a ski or skate workout, it gives a good balance and outer hip workout.

NordicTrack Pro Skier Ski Machine Review

NordicTrack Pro Skier Ski Machine
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is an excellent workout. I have worn out several of these NordicTrack ski machines - it takes me about 6 years of use then they are pretty much shot. You can replace the critical parts but the better way is to find a used one in excellent condition that was built in Minnesota when they first came out. The later units made in Asia are built to the same drawings but you will quickly discover the quality is not the same. The workout is about 7 - 14 METS depending on how you set up the upper body and tension on the skis. Not everyone finds it easy to use - unless you have a fairly good sense of balance it can be awkward.

Why a NordicTrack Skier !

Aerobic #1
Endurance #1
Strength #2
Flexibility #2
Coordination #2

20 Years later, THIS IS STILL THE HIGHEST RATED FITNESS EQUIPMENT
Compare to a Treadmill:
Treadmills are the 'catch all' for the fitness novice. But they are not low impact as many assume. Does the pavement come at you as you walk ? Have you watched - seen and heard people 'pound' their lives away on a treadmill ? Each step a tremendous jolt compared to ordinary walking which has enough impact on the joints without the added stress. Compare to 'NordicWalking or Skiing - you never lift your feet. Experience a Smooth - Rhythmic motion as wood skis glide gently on rubber rollers which - on a finely tuned skier - 'white-noise' therapeutic sound. Start NordicWalking / Skiing - ultimately will want to experience 'total freedom of motion' with an upper and lower body workout. The World's Best Aerobic Exerciser.

Compare to Elliptical:
Ellipticals are much more restrictive and have a shorter range of motion. They are often 'jerky - and have a 'punching' motion you want a free flowing - extended full range of motion and the smoothness of a NordicTrack. NordicTrack Skiers will also aid in achieving 'balance and coordination'. It's easy to learn and best of all - anyone can do it !

SPRI ES560R Yellow Xercuff (Very Light Resistance) Review

SPRI ES560R Yellow Xercuff (Very Light Resistance)
Average Reviews:

Xercuff's are great! I have the figure eight resistance but they can be uncomfortable on the ankles. These are comfortable. Sometimes I like very light resistance for hamstrings. These are perfect for a female beginner or for intermediate workouts where you want slight resistance. If you are looking for light resistance then I would recommend the green ones. I have both and they are great. I will probably order the red ones with medium resistance in the near future.

SPRI ES499R Xertube Resistance Band with Door Attachment and Exercise Charts (Yellow, Very Light) Review

SPRI ES499R Xertube Resistance Band with Door Attachment and Exercise Charts (Yellow, Very Light)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I hope this review helps out others looking to replace their Wii Active band, which is cheaply made and bound to rip (like mine did). I had a difficult time finding a replacement. This band is the way to go. The handles are a little thicker than the Wii Active band, so it's a little more difficult to hold the band and the Wii equipment, but it hasn't been a problem for me. The band has more resistance than the Wii Active band (which I thought didn't provide enough resistance, anyway), but it is possible to complete all of the exercises, unlike some other bands I tried. I haven't used it enough to judge durability, but it appears to be of high quality.
NOTE: For some reason, Amazon lumps together reviews for multiple SPRI resistance bands, which made my research even more difficult. This review refers to the very light (yellow) SPRI band. Do not buy the deluxe version to use with Wii Active--the handles are too big to hold with the Wii remote and numchuk.

Street Surfing Whiplash Wave Scooter Review

Street Surfing Whiplash Wave Scooter
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
My nine year old son received the Whiplash Scooter for his birthday. This is his second scooter. He loves this one because he can do so much more with it. He rides it up and down the sidewalk without ever touching the ground and he does these really cool turns he couldn't do on his other scooter. It is really well made too.

Building on the success of the original Wave street surfing casterboard, the Whiplash Wave scooter continues to combine the natural fluidity of surfing with the maneuverability of snowboarding and skating. Offering a revolutionary new way to ride, the Whiplash Wave Scooter's flexing deck and handlebar fuse together to provide riders with a cool, side to side, whip-like ride. And you can self-propel the scooter so that your feet never touch the ground or ride it like a traditional scooter. The Whiplash Wave Scooter only takes a few minutes to learn, and after a few hours most riders become proficient.
The platform is made of a virtually indestructible yet nicely lightweight ABS plastic, and it features a steel torsion bar that controls the flexible front and rear panels and never wears down. Other hardware features a rear caster wheel with ABEC 7 bearings and an extra long handle folds for easy travel and storage.
How to Ride the Whiplash
Place the Whiplash on a slight downward slope.
Place foot in the center of the back platform and position the scooter so that it is level with the ground.

Push with your front foot and lean your weight forward.
Look straight ahead. Straighten your body and bend your knees slightly.

Immediately after pushing off, start the twisting motion.
To achieve an "S" shape, move your shoulders and your hips back and forth in opposing directions. Swing your back foot repeatedly left to right and self propel your Whiplash Scooter without ever putting your foot on the ground.

Body Glide SST6000 Ski-Skate Trainer Review

Body Glide SST6000 Ski-Skate Trainer
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
In spite of the inaccurate and slow to respond heart rate monitor and the malfunctioning calorie counter I love love love this machine. It is very heavy duty with a nice rage of motion. My first love was a precor commercial elliptical. After three years of using the same machine I needed a change. I am an avid skier and inline skater so I took the plunge and ordered it having never set foot on one. I'm glad I did.
I will say, perhaps the more expensive new model has better sensors but I was not willing to spend an extra 500 bucks. I'm writing this because I could not find one review on this machine anywhere on the internet that was useful. This machine is great for any user level. My husband is also an avid skater and says it hurts his knees but I think its because he refuses to decrease the resistance....so stubborn! The programs are extensive and relatively easy to use. You can save your user profile which would be really great if the calorie count and heart rate monitor worked a little better. Again, I have to say these were not a deal breaker because this it like no machine I have ever used and I love it.

Glide Bikes Mini Glider Balance Bike Review

Glide Bikes Mini Glider Balance Bike
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I researched available balance bikes and decided that the Mini Glider is the best for my son. He loves it and couldn't be happier. (He has the blue one, but the color doesn't make a difference.) Here's what sets the Mini Glider apart from the other choices:
- Super lightweight. Shipping weight is 6 pounds. Compare to the 14 pound Kettler Sprint. The lighter, the easier for a young child to manipulate. Watch my son mount, turn around, dismount, and even lift his Mini Glider with ease.
- Foot pegs for ease of riding and transition to a pedal bike. Most brands have no foot rest for training foot position. The Glider Rider Bike has a 10-inch footplate, but my son's shoes are already 9 inches long. His big feet fit on the Mini Glider's foot pegs with no trouble.
- Hand brake. Some others leave this out, saying that the child shouldn't go faster than his feet can stop him. My son figured out how to use the brake on his own. It is helpful to him when stopping at the bottom of a hill. At the end of the video, just before the last notes of the music, you can hear the "Shhh" of the brake as he brings the glider to a safe stop.
- Solid, no-pump tires. With a vehicle this lightweight, you don't need the hassle of airing up tiny tires. These tires are sturdy and give plenty of traction.
- Seat height easily adjusts with the turn of one bolt.
- Minimal assembly required. Simply insert the handle bars, tighten with the included tool, adjust the seat, and go.
- Excellent customer service from the manufacturer. I had a question about adjusting the brake, and when I called the # in the instruction manual I spoke to a real person immediately.
My son is a tall (44-inch) 4 1/2 year old. Not particularly athletic or graceful, it took him until the age of 4 to learn to pedal a tricycle. When he became interested in bicycles, I got him the Mini Glider. At first, he straddled the seat and waddled with the glider. He soon progressed to walking, running, one-foot-pumping, and coasting with his feet on the foot pegs. The video shows his amazing progress from his second day of riding the glider through 2 1/2 weeks of learning. He loves showing off his skills to everyone, and he wants to go riding every day.
Edit: The new model now offered for sale has a quick-release seat clamp. No tool is needed to adjust the seat. They have also made the handlebars adjustable, for an even more customizable fit. Excellent!

The Mini Glider from Glide Bikes allows children to gain confidence, improve motor skills, increase coordination, and learn balance at their own pace all while having fun! Balance Bikes do not have training wheels and pedals to get in the way, so children learn the important first step in riding a bike- BALANCE! Pushing off with alternating feet as if the child were running from a seated position, the child can learn balance and control. Once the child becomes more stable they begin to glide with their feet off the ground. As your child develops balance and begins gliding, they can place their feet on the foot pegs and get accustomed to the natural foot position present on a traditional bicycle. Another important aspect of learning to ride with a Glide Bikes balance bike is how they help build a child's confidence. The problem with bikes that depend on training wheels is the lack of control and stability and the higher probability of tip-overs. This makes the child more prone to injuries and takes the fun out of riding a bike. With the Mini Glider, riders have a lower center of gravity which increases stability similar to a sports car in comparison to a tall sport utility vehicle. We also design our bikes using downhill mountain bike geometry which also increases stability and allows for the lowest balance speed of 1.5 MPH. Unlike the heavy kid's bikes with training wheels, we use high quality, lightweight materials so that children can lift the bike by themselves and avoid getting trapped underneath the bike if they do fall. These are all very important features built into our bikes to make your child's experience a safe and fun one!
