The Gas 2007 XG-499 (Includes 2007 EPA Certified Gas Engine) Review

Average Reviews:

This product is manufactured by "x-treme scooters." We ordered one and it arrived with numerous problems (poor packaging causing container damage during delivery, poorly worded and pictured assembly manual, loose parts in the bottom of the box, etc.). But the biggest problem was that it had at least two major manufacturing defects that rendered the scooter unusable and ultimately unsafe if operated. We immediately packaged it up and attempted to return it. The seller (Scooter Jones)disclaimed ANY responsibility. He referred us to the manufacturer. After repeated attempts to contact the manufacturer, they finally responded with their "warranty." They "warrant" parts for 30 days after delivery. They do not warrant the engine at all (not our problem - we never got to the point to start it). The parts they do warrant will be sent to the purchaser at the cost to the manufacturer ONCE during the warranty period. If they don't work or if you have further problems, the consumer has to pay for shipping. So far, we have waited 3 weeks and they have not even attempted to send us parts. It doesn't matter anyway, the parts that we need to make the scooter work require technical ability beyond my capability to remove and replace. Thus, the warranty is totally useless. Don't buy this scooter!!!

Micro Original Kickboard Scooter Review

Micro Original Kickboard Scooter
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I received my Micro Original Kickboard Scooter yesterday, as a replacement for a K2 Trifecta Kickboard I loved, bought in 1997 and lost in my move. What I love about this is its skateboard-style steering, brake (I've never quite learned how to slow down on a skateboard), one-handed operation, portability, solid construction, mod-ability, and uniqueness.
I bet that those who rate this product poorly for stability, steering, handgrip design are trying to use it in a way it isn't intended. It won't behave being treated like a T-bar 2-wheeler. Following the instructions and keeping more of a skateboard stance in mind--feet at 45* angle or even perpendicular to the board--will yield a much stabler navigation control. With the K2 version I used to steer just with my feet, barely touching the stick at all. Also, to get super-tight turning instead of "falling over," counter-steer: if you ride with right foot forward and want to turn right, push on your heels to steer the board right while leaning your weight FORWARD (towards the LEFT side of the board, in order to keep your weight over the board) just hold the stick enough to keep your balance. Don't try to push/pull the stick to steer. Conversely if you ride with right foot forward and want to turn left, press your toes down to steer the board left and hang your body back as far as you can so your weight remains over the board.
Now, what I miss about my old one - this new original is quite large. Seems significantly bigger in length, wheelsize, and joystick diameter. I liked the smaller, more portable size, but did not want the aluminum deck of the Micro Compact Kickboard. This one also seems much softer in the springs than I remember the other to be, and I want a stronger steer; springs are sold, so I'll just have to track them down. The K2 one came with two sets of different strength springs, which amusingly did make it through the move, though I may have finally tossed them. I can't tell whether there are strap or bag accessories for this device, nor can I see any place on it where I could clip a micro kickboard strap (probably meant for the T-bar 2-wheelers). I do dig the ergonomic grab to release the handle lock, though; the K2 had a machined metal dowel that was brutal to the thumb.
Finally, this is such a great product, where are the fans and the info? It's so hard to find goodies about modding, adjusting, accessorizing; videos top out at 5 on YouTube. US distributors - please organize a social community where we can all share knowledge and fun about the Micro Kickboards!

I had to give this one star to write the reveiw but I wouldn't give it any stars!!!! I had purchased a razor scooter for my daughter years ago. Though I would get her something more powerful for Christmas. WRONG!!!!! Her 2 year old razor scooter that is only supposed to go 10 mph. Runs circles around this thing. It holds it's charge but has little to no power. I can walk faster than it and I have to wear a leg brace!!!! Please stick to the razor!...Karen

We got this scooter for our 5 yo daughter for Christmas, now its September and we are throwing it out. I will say it was used a lot. Riders: ALWAYS wear a helmet!
The Good:
- charge. This thing runs a long time. Very impressed with that aspect of it. Nice charger with lights (although they were backwards from what was said in the manual.)
- Variable throttle.
- Light weight.
- Moves even my 200 lbs at a good speed.
The Bad:
- The wheels suck - hard wheels. DO NOT GET A SCOOTER WITH HARD WHEELS. It really sucks trying to get over any sort of rough terrain, even rough asphalt. Get inflated tires. Also, when we adjusted the brakes to give sufficient stopping power, you easily wear off part of the wheel and then its no longer round. You can hear the scooter go "thump - thump" a mile away and it jiggles the rider because of the worn out wheel. Got another for $16 from them, but a) its a BEAR to install and b) it wore out the first day. Note this was due to the brakes failing and then you're stuck with either you have too much braking or not enough due to the worn out brake parts. Not willing to spend the $ to repair/replace.
- The construction is not quality. All welds have broken. I was lucky to have a iron fence guy at our house and he re-tack welded.
- The control unit has now failed. Won't charge at all.
- Brakes stopped working very soon. Its a steel band that tightens on a drum. Found it to be super touchy. If adjusted too much, you wear out the tire as described, or you don't get much braking.
- only 90 day warranty. I'm done with this scooter, going in the trash (after we recycle the battery).
So, we got our $100 out of it, but we were hoping for a longer life. Now looking at other brands.

Spider-Man Preschool 3-Wheeled Scooter Review

Spider-Man Preschool 3-Wheeled Scooter

The suggested age range is "5 and up", but the maximum weight is 44 lbs! The "average" 5 yr old boy is already 40lbs (50th percentile). Most 5-6 year olds will be too heavy for this item, or will rapidly outgrow it -- so the manufacturer's suggested age range of "5 and up" is very misleading. The scooter is also very small. They should provide all the weight/height and other limits for the toys rather than just age ranges -- which in this case were very misleading. (I got this item for my nephew who is 4 yrs 9 months old, and he is already too heavy for it at 45 lbs.) Also, forget about telling me the BOX size and give me the SCOOTER'S measurments. It would have saved me a lot of hassle and disappointment.

Razor Carver Kick Scooter with Trucks Review

Razor Carver Kick Scooter with Trucks
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I got one of these Razor Carvr scooters for my wife, who isn't too comfortable on the 2-wheeled Razor A kick scooters that my three sons (8, 5, and 5 yrs. old) zoom around on. The three wheeled design looked appealing for a person who lacks neither ability or balance, but rather confidence.
I noted right away that this scooter isn't constructed of the high grade and lightweight aluminum that the other Razor scooters are made of. The Carvr is made of welded steel, so it is rather heavy, especially since it has a skateboard truck (also made of steel) in the back with a pretty cool friction brake. Even the steerer tube and handles are made of steel, though it looks like I could easily swap one of the aluminum steerer tubes and handles from one of the Razor A scooters to the Carvr easily. I suspect this scooter is made of steel to save on production cost, as nothing on this scooter screams out high quality.
Ride and handling are o.k., though I must point out that the 2-wheeled Razor A scooters are faster, and handle better. Since this Carvr will be used by an adult rider, I found the bushing on the rear truck too soft. I changed the smaller of the two bushings with a firmer bushing that I had handy. This made the Carvr easier to ride. If the Carver is leaned too much, the brake mechanism actually rubs on the rear wheels. Not something you would want to happen in a fast tight turn!!
I also removed the steering damper right away. I don't understand the purpose of this rubber bushing that resists turning of the steering at all.
It is a shame that this Carvr scooter will never see a modest to steep hill, so we won't be able to see if the scooter lives up to it's name for carving down hills. I suppose the fact that there are two skateboard wheels in back as opposed to one relatively thin scooter wheel would give this scooter better grip on the road to avoid sliding out when carving down relatively steep hills.

I bought this for my 9 year old son for Christmas. I researched many scooters and found this one to be what I thought was the best. It would bear the most weight, had excellent wheels and easy to fold and tuck away. He broke the brake the second time he rode it. It was broken beyond repair as it just snapped off. Now I had warned him about the brake ahead of time, knowing this was the scooters one weak point. He knew not to push on it too hard or slam his foot on it. He was very disappointed and has not ridden it since. I am sure he could stop it with is foot on the the wheel gentlely or by just stepping down/dragging his foot on the ground if he was going fast. Disappointed is an understatement, especially after all the research I did before purchasing it.

I bought this iten as a gift for my grandson. When I opened the outside package, I realized that the product had been returned and repackaged. I expected a new, not USED item.
On top of that, the return address label was still stuck to the box, which includes the NAME and RETURN ADDRESS of the previous owner. WHAT INFORMATION OF MINE HAS AMAZON SHARED?
So why was it returned? This is a child's scooter. Maybe it has a broken part that makes it dangerous? How should I know?
I tried to return it, but despite the fact that it is still being sold as new online, THEY ARE OUT OF STOCK!!! So if you order expect a returned one. I'm almost afraid to return it, then you will have MY name and address!
Over the past few years I have lost faith in Amazon. Sears, K-Mart, Wal-Mart and Target, to name just a few of the big ones, are all out there with good service. I can't put up with this kind of terrible and possibly dangerous service.

Razor Jr. Folding Kiddie Kick Scooter Review

Razor Jr. Folding Kiddie Kick Scooter
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Two weeks ago we got Razor A Kick scooters for my 6 year old daughter and four year old son. Needless to say my two year old son wanted to keep up with the older kids and this scooter is perfect. Overall it is smaller than the Razor A, but has a wider sturdier base. Granted it does not go fast, nor does it have the maneuverability of the older kids' scooters, but my son is happy. He wanted his very own scooter and now he has it. There is no need for him to go fast or attempt to do any tricks. While the older kids are whizzing down the block he is right next to me putzing around, happy as can be. Also, my four year old will occasionally get off of his Razor A and get on the kiddie scooter. He can maneuver the kiddie scooter fine but doesn't ride it for very long because it lacks speed and he has to constantly keep pushing off with his foot.
Bottom line- It's a great scooter for 2-3 year olds. If your child is 4 or older, and remotely coordinated, get the Razor A Kick Scooter, they will like the speed and maneuverability way better.

Invite your little ones to tag along without jeopardizing their safety with the Razor Jr. Kiddie Kick scooter. Outfitted with a three-wheel design for added stability and an impact-resistant plastic body, the scooter makes riding fun for kids 6 and under.
The wide, slip-resistant polypropylene deck, meanwhile, is extremely stable, as is the extra-wide rear wheelbase. And thanks to the handy folding mechanism, the Kiddie Kick folds up quickly for easy storage and transport. Other features include soft foam handgrips, 98mm wheels, and your choice of blue and pink colors. The Kiddie Kick measures 22 by 25.5 by 11 inches (W x H x D) and weighs 6.5 pounds.

This Razor A3 scooter is a great step up from the inexpensive, less robust scooters you'll find in many stores. Very strong: my 11-year-old weighs about 100 pounds and it has easily absorbed use and abuse from him and his friends for months.
The large wheels are a great feature, as is a neat adjustment which you can use to keep the handle secure to the base without rattling. The hand grips are very comfortable, and are also the part most likely to wear first, but they are easy to replace if you ever need to.

Razor Scooter Replacement Wheels Set with Bearings Review

Razor Scooter Replacement Wheels Set with Bearings
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
My son who is 10 and about 70 pounds is probably getting too big for his razor. Because he uses the brake a lot and practices jumps, he wore out his previous wheels. This caused his scooter to rattle since the wheels were no longer round. These new wheels have a wider rubber part, which makes the ride softer, but also wear down faster. It wasn't 30 minutes of [hard] use until they were not round either. There is a different model of wheel with a wider piece of hard plastic inside the rubber. We ended up getting those and they wear better under our conditions.

My nine year old son received the Whiplash Scooter for his birthday. This is his second scooter. He loves this one because he can do so much more with it. He rides it up and down the sidewalk without ever touching the ground and he does these really cool turns he couldn't do on his other scooter. It is really well made too.

Building on the success of the original Wave street surfing casterboard, the Whiplash Wave scooter continues to combine the natural fluidity of surfing with the maneuverability of snowboarding and skating. Offering a revolutionary new way to ride, the Whiplash Wave Scooter's flexing deck and handlebar fuse together to provide riders with a cool, side to side, whip-like ride. And you can self-propel the scooter so that your feet never touch the ground or ride it like a traditional scooter. The Whiplash Wave Scooter only takes a few minutes to learn, and after a few hours most riders become proficient.
The platform is made of a virtually indestructible yet nicely lightweight ABS plastic, and it features a steel torsion bar that controls the flexible front and rear panels and never wears down. Other hardware features a rear caster wheel with ABEC 7 bearings and an extra long handle folds for easy travel and storage.
How to Ride the Whiplash
Place the Whiplash on a slight downward slope.
Place foot in the center of the back platform and position the scooter so that it is level with the ground.

Push with your front foot and lean your weight forward.
Look straight ahead. Straighten your body and bend your knees slightly.

Immediately after pushing off, start the twisting motion.
To achieve an "S" shape, move your shoulders and your hips back and forth in opposing directions. Swing your back foot repeatedly left to right and self propel your Whiplash Scooter without ever putting your foot on the ground.

Razor Pro Model Scooter Review

Razor Pro Model Scooter
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought an A2 for my wife, and because she didn't want to ride by herself--and I'm bigger and heavier--I bought this Razor Pro thinking it was simply made sturdier and nothing more. I also happen to be an avid cyclist of many years so I can really tell the differences.
Turns out there are huge differences between this Pro model and the others--to the point where I could say the others are toys and this is actually sports equipment/transportation.
*The stability in steering is much better on this one.
*The wheels are thicker, which I'm sure contributes to its ability to hold a line better--though I have to say the A2 is not bad either.
*It's faster, and since the ride is a lot more stable it's actually much safer to ride this going fast than the others.
*I believe this is actually made of a higher quality of aluminium.
*Overall it's made of a heavier construction more appropriate for those who are going to do more on it than go back and forth on the sidewalk.
Bottom Line: For the price difference here on Amazon (the A2 being about $40 and the Pro being roughly $50) it's worth it to spend the extra $10 on the Pro.
This isn't just a toy like the others. You can actually enjoy the ease and convenience of riding this thing to the store and back, or through the middle of an urban environment adding to both your enjoyment and convenience without having to lock it up outside when you enter a building--or being prohibited from entering a store like you would with Roller Blades without changing to shoes first.
And as a 5'10" adult male, I can say this is a better fit--though the A2 isn't bad either in that respect.
